Can I be an Ironcop?

Yes.  All it takes is the commitment to support the teams fundraising efforts, train for Ironman Canada and balance your life.  If you would like to take up the challenge, contact Karen at Buffy@IroncopsBC.com.  Our team is comprised of police members from the RCMP, City of Vancouver, City of New Westminster, and City of West Vancouver as well as civilian members from all walks of life.

What do I get for being on the team?

We all carry our own expenses.  Every Team member is responsible for signing up for Ironman Canada, acquiring their training and racing equipment and for purchasing their uniforms.  Team Ironman, BC is committed to giving as much back to the Canadian Cancer Society as possible and take great pride in carrying our own freight.

How often does the Team compete?

Officially, every second (even) year is an Ironcops year at Ironman Canada.  There are several other fundraising events through Cops for Cancer including the incredibly successful Cops for Cancer Tour series in British Columbia.  Team Ironman is focused on triathlon and specifically, on Ironman Canada in Penticton, BC.  This is a special race and it takes a special commitment to succeed in an Ironman event.

Despite officially racing and fundraising towards a cheque presentation in August of 2008, several of the team members competed at Ironman Canada in 2007 as part of the 25th anniversary of this prestigious event.  There will also be lots of Ironcops uniforms at many other events between now and August 2008 including half and full marathons, Sprint, Olympic and Half Iron distance triathlons such as those produced by Outback Events.

What will the uniforms be like?

Part of the thrill of racing with Ironcops is wearing the race day gear!  Our team is easily identified at Ironman Canada as approximately 1 in 20 people racing in 2008 will be Ironcops.  Check out the 2008 uniforms!  You will see a lot of these in Penticton.
